From afar, I follow the comings and goings pretty closely so I knew about Fitzgerald's and Old Reno a while ago. But it didn't actually strike home until I saw it in person two weeks ago. It looked completely different without the railroad tracks (or construction), the Rainbow bridge, etc. And for the most part, nobody but panhandlers were on the streets across from those buildings.
We had stayed at Harrah's and was shocked at how lifeless "South of the Arch" had become.
Don't know if you saw this (and if you did, I apologize in advance) but this column was spot on. |
